Action Cycles 'n Sleds - Twin Falls

Rob Goldowski grew up in Jerome, Idaho, on the Glodowski’s three-generation farm. He began riding snowmobiles and motorcycles at age 4 and began racing Motocross a few years later. As an adult, he worked at Western Power Sports as an after-market distributor for the power sports industry, where he won awards for top sales. Therefore, when Kawasaki approached Rob, his wife, Kellie, and his parents about applying for a franchise to become the Magic Valley’s Kawasaki dealer, it was a childhood dream come true. They applied, were approved, and Action Cycles ‘n Sleds was born.

Starting a business from the beginning proved to be challenging. It became even more challenging after the events of September 11, 2001. Rob first found the Idaho SBDC on the internet, and he and his office manager began meeting with Cindy Bond at the Twin Falls SBDC once a month at no charge. She taught them how to use financial statements to make forecasts and goals and helped figure out how many units they had to sell to be profitable. The Idaho SBDC later assisted with the buyout of two other dealerships in town and obtaining financing to build a showroom.

Sales have increased from $1.2 million to more than $6 million. In 2004, the Goldowski’s earned an all-expense paid vacation to Sydney, Australia, for being one of the top 300 Kawasaki Dealers in the United States and earned "Most Improved Dealership" from Polaris. They continue to consistently earn awards for sales, and have continued to meet monthly with Jerry Mottern, senior consultant with the Idaho SBDC, to hone and review their financials for even greater business success.

“We are very thankful for the support and knowledge from SBDC who have helped us be so successful.” — Rob Goldowski
