S&W Enterprises, Inc. - Idaho Falls

S&W Enterprises is a long haul trucking firm. They own a fleet of long haul trucks and also book trucking hauls for independent truckers, as well as their own drivers. During the winter season when trucking hauls are slow, they were experiencing cash flow problems and needed money to continue until the season improved.

Office manager Lori Ison turned to the Idaho Small Business Development Center for assistance with the business plan they needed to apply for financing. She made arrangements for the Idaho SBDC consultant to meet at the firm to review the situation.

The consultant helped the company identify several problems: large receivables, a need for additional trucks for future hauling, and, most important, cash to keep the company on its feet. They then went to work on a business plan for the future, and made additional changes in the accounting process to help the owners better track their business.

When the business plan was finished, the company applied for and received an SBA loan. In addition, the Frostline Corp. was approached to factor the receivables in order to keep the cash flow going in the future.

Today the future looks very good for S&W — their sales have tripled since the loan was approved and they have also increased jobs, helping the local economy grow. Once again, the SBA-sponsored SBDC and the SBA Loan program have joined forces to help a good company survive and grow.
