Succession planning is a critical and often neglected part of starting, owning and transitioning your small business. The goal of succession planning is to preserve the value of what you have created with your hard work and provide an orderly transition of the business based on how you – the entrepreneur-- want the transition to occur. In this course we will discuss the road blocks to getting started, the five basic elements of a solid succession plan and how to get started toward the completion of your own succession plan. We will also work together on some real life case studies to help you start thinking objectively about the future. Additionally, participants will receive a succession planning checklist that will help you take the first steps toward the completion of a plan. This topic is important to both established businesses and business start-ups. No matter what stage of development a succession plan is critically important to preserving wealth and relationships.
